At our language school, you can choose the schedule that suits you best. You can choose between a standard course (three times a week) or an intensive course (six times a week). In both courses, you will also do additional exercises on our learning platform. You can choose the time for this individually. The schedule for the individual courses changes every month. So if the course schedule doesn’t fit you in one month, you have the opportunity to attend a suitable course the following month. We strive to provide you with the greatest possible flexibility in selecting courses.

We offer a well-structured approach to learning the German language. Each course is carefully designed to cover all aspects of the German language, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Our curriculum follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), so you can achieve recognized language proficiency levels.

At the end of each language level, we conduct a practice exam for the ÖSD. This practice exam simulates the conditions of the official exam and gives you a clear indication of whether you would pass. It is a valuable tool for assessing your progress and gaining confidence before taking the official exam, which can be taken at several nearby locations.

In the A2.1 German course, you will learn more important elements of the German language, especially:

the dative - next to the accusative, the most important case,

What topics are you learning in the A1 German course?

You will learn to communicate in simple situations, introduce yourself, talk about your family, hobbies, and work, and handle simple everyday situations. With this knowledge, you can pass the A1 exam. The self-study exercises on our website are helpful. You can also quickly practice your German by reading small texts from the beginning, such as advertising brochures and children's books, and watching videos on YouTube.
Additionally, you should try out the phrases you have learned in everyday life from the start.

Which grammar are you learning in the A1 German course?

You will learn the most important basics of German grammar:
definite and indefinite articles,
verbs in the present tense,
strong and weak verbs,
separable verbs,
modal verbs,
possessive pronouns,
accusative,
imperative.

How many hours are needed for German A1?

It depends on each student how long it takes to complete level A1. At our school, the A1 course consists of a total of 48 lessons (each 45 minutes) as in-person classes at the school. In addition, there are about 48 more lessons on our learning platform and for homework. To learn German quickly, one should practice German daily in addition to the course, e.g. read magazines, watch YouTube videos in German, or set social media like TikTok, Instagram, and Threads to German.

Enrolling in a course at the German Center Vienna is simple and straightforward. You do not need to visit us in person to register for a course, as the entire registration process can be completed online. Once you have selected your course and paid the course fee, your spot is secured. We do not require any special documents from you.

If you are unsure about your current language level, we offer a practical placement test that you can take either on our website or at our school. This test takes only a few minutes and helps determine your language level, so you can enroll in the course that best fits your skills and goals.

For a very attractive price, you can complete an entire level as an intensive course in one month or as a standard course in two months. Your money is therefore optimally invested, as you can reach the intermediate level after just two months of intensive course. This means that after two months, you will already be able to communicate in everyday situations. After three months of intensive course or six months of standard course, you will have completed the intermediate level. You will be able to communicate fluently with your colleagues, neighbors, and friends in everyday life, understand simple texts, use German at work, shop, order in restaurants, go to the doctor, and effortlessly manage all important situations in life in German.

Frequently asked questions

Will the confirmation of a booked german course be accepted when applying for a visa?

Yes, but please double check if you need a passed exam. The exams take place in partner schools.

Can I get a visa with your German courses?

Yes. Please pay half of the course fee in advance. Then we’ll send you a confirmation of your payment. Please send this confiramtion to the Austrian embassy of your country yourself. Meanwhile, you also have to apply for a visa. In our experience the Austrian authorities will issue a visa if you sign up for one of our courses. But since requirements may vary in different countries, we kindly ask you to find out for yourself. In case you are being denied a visa, we’ll send you back the money with a deduction of 150 € for our efforts.

Do the books used in class cost extra?

Yes, the books used in class are not included in the course fee. One book is around 20 €. You can buy them in our school. We use the following books:

You can also take the test at our school. We are located at Capistrangasse 10, 1060 Wien and are open Monday – Friday, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

What is the difference between a regular course and an intensive course?

With a standard course you can complete one half of a level (e.g. A1/1) in one month. With an intensive course you can complete one whole level in one month (e.g. A1 = A1/1 + A1/2).

Is there a difference between the online courses and the courses at school?

Our courses always take place on site and are additionally streamed via Skype for online students. This allows you to actively participate in the lessons from home with a microphone and webcam.

How long does it take to learn German fluently?

It depends on each person how quickly they learn a new language. People who speak a language related to German, such as English or Dutch, learn it faster than people who, for example, speak an Asian language. It also helps if you already know the rules of your own language well and perhaps have already learned other languages.

The prices vary depending on the chosen hourly program. For a four-week standard course, a lesson costs €9.58. If you book intensive courses or multi-month courses, the price decreases.
