Topics and Content in the B1 German lessons

In the German B1 language training intermediate level, you will learn to master the German language more confidently in both spoken and written forms. The focus is on communication in everyday situations, whether in a family setting, with friends, neighbors, or colleagues. You will learn to speak in detail about your interests, hobbies, experiences, as well as wishes and dreams. Particular attention is given to learning phrases for polite and respectful interaction so that you can express yourself appropriately and pleasantly in any situation.

Grammar in the B1 German Course

A central component of the course is the deepening of grammar.
You will primarily learn these topics:
- subordinate clauses using weil, da, obwohl, dass, ob, wenn, falls
- temporal subordinate clauses using seit, bis, während, bevor, nachdem
- perfect tense - spoken past
- simple past - past in reading texts
- verbs with fixed prepositions, da-words (dabei, dafür, daran...)
- dative and accusative
- subjunctive 2 - phrases of politeness, wishes, and unreality
- genitive - grammar in formal language and business communication
- passive - sentences where the action (what happens) is in the foreground.

You will learn these grammatical forms both in speaking and writing and practice them in different exercises.

Cultural Knowledge in B1 German Lessons

Furthermore, the course imparts cultural knowledge about Germany and Austria. You will gain insights into typical customs, unwritten rules, and cultural differences compared to other countries. This not only enhances your language understanding but also your intercultural competence.

The course is oriented towards the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
